- GARVIN Planes are suitable for home or professional use on the bench or on site. The No.5 is a good plane to put to rough sawn timber to begin sizing and smoothing, long enough to produce a flat surface at the same time not too heavy. A No.5 is very versatile, used to flatten, size, square and smooth. for stock removal and truing up long edges or leveling wide boards.
- GARVIN Planes are fitted with a Indian made high quality blade. The blade is O1 high carbon steel, 3mm thick and hardened to HRC 61-64. It is capable of holding a very fine edge. It is flat, well finished and comes with a 25° bevel. These quality blades require only minimal preparation before use from new
- O1 tool steel is our choice for the blade as it offers durability, excellent wear resistance and holds a fine edge. This high carbon tool steel is relatively easy to sharpen and hone using conventional methods. A final wipe on a strop produces a very keen edge. A sharp O1 blade is a joy to use
